NBA 2024-25 Season Award Predictions
Coach of the Year:
Taylor Jenkins
With the help of Ja Morant and a very good supporting cast, Coach Taylor Jenkins will have a great year. This Memphis Grizzlies team looks pretty good from what I have seen so far in the preseason. Barring any major setbacks, expect for Coach Jenkins and the Grizzlies to have a great season.
In-Season Tournament MVP:
Zion Williamson
At the end of the 2023-24 season in the NBA play in tournament game versus the Los Angeles Lakers, Zion had a monster game scoring 40 points and grabbing 11 Rebounds before getting injured and not playing the last 3 minutes during a comeback that had fans thinking the Lakers just might lose. I think the Pelicans with their addition of Dejounte Murray will be a force to be reckoned with in the NBA this season and will go as far as Zion takes them.
All-Star Game MVP:
Kevin Durant
This one really doesn’t need any explanation, but to put it plainly, Kevin Durant still is the best scorer in the game of basketball and is a walking 30 whenever he steps on the court. Now imagine an all-star game setting where minimal defense is being played and he is let loose. Durant will light it up in the all-star game and walk away with the MVP.
Sixth Man of the Year:
Naz Reid
One of the most underrated players in the NBA, Naz Reid will have another year of being a key factor in the Minnesota Timberwolves rotation. Playing for a great team and great coach expect Naz Reid to come in the game and ball out night in and night out.
Most Improved Player:
Bam Adebayo
Coming off a good stint in the Olympics, expect Bam Adebayo to raise his game even higher during this season. Time and time again we see players come off a good tournament in the Olympics only to dominate the League the following year with more confidence than the year before. Also, don’t be surprised if he is top 2 in the Defensive Player of the Year Award voting.
Rookie of the Year:
Zach Edey
As bad as I want to put Rob Dillingham, I think Zach Edey will have a bigger role on his team from the beginning of the season and with the combination of his size and prowess he will have a good rookie year on a great team.
Defensive Player of the Year:
Victor Wembanyama
Maybe the most confident pick on the list, Victor Wembanyama with all due respect to Rudy Gobert, had an arguement for winner of the Defensive Player of the Year Award last season. A tremendous talent, mindset, work ethic, and environment, look for Wemby to take a leap this year and become an even bigger problem for opposing teams.
NBA MVP:
Anthony Edwards
The best two way player in the NBA right now, Anthony Edwards is rightfully a fan favorite due to his skills and personality. Showing similarities in his game to Michael Jordan, Ant Man (like Bam) will take his game to a new level coming off a good run in the Olympics.
Western Conference Finals MVP:
Ja Morant
Another electrifying player, Ja Morant, will lead his team to the NBA Finals this year behind great play and leadership. What a redemption story that will be and I am all here for it.
Eastern Conference Finals MVP:
Jalen Brunson
Coming off a great season last year where the Knicks made a good playoff run before falling short in the Semifinals to the Pacers, I think Jalen Brunson and the Knicks will reach the Finals this year. There is not many guards as crafty and capable of making tough shots as Brunson. I would not be surprised if he is holding up the ECF MVP trophy.
Finals MVP & NBA Finals Champs:
Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies
An All Around Point Guard who will not be denied, Ja Morant, will look to win his first NBA Championship this year and for his team to do that he will have to be leading the charge like he normally does. As you have probably concluded after reading this post, I am pretty high on the Memphis Grizzlies who I think will hoist the Larry O’Brien trophy at the end of the season.
