Top 10 Players in the NBA 2024-25 Edition

Ok, I am going to start this list off by saying Winning matters! Those at the top of my list will have led their team to an NBA title at least once. In my eyes, getting over that hump is vital when it comes to staking your claim as the best of the best. Yes, I am well aware that basketball is a team sport and that there are 15 players to a roster, coaching staff, management, etc. This is where leadership and elevating the play of your teammates come into play. Stats and the eye test will get a player high on the list, but everyone in the top 5 has hoisted the Larry O’Brien trophy. This criteria is the reason why players are ranked where they are and with no further ado, check out my top 10.

10. Ja Morant

Actually my favorite to win FInals MVP this year, Ja Morant, if it weren’t for the missed games, would be higher on this list. Look for Ja and the Grizzlies to make a deep run this post season.

9. Anthony Edwards

After a very good showing in the Olympics, Ant Man, looks to follow the summer up with a monstrous 5th year. I look forward to seeing what the best two way shooting guard in the NBA has to offer this season.

8. Luka Doncic

The only reason Luka is not higher than 8 is because he has not won a championship yet. When he does, and it’s only a matter of time, he very well could shoot up to the top 3.

7. Jayson Tatum

Coming off an NBA Championship run, Tatum looks to lead the Celtics back to the promised land. Although I may have expected him to perform better in the Olympics, I also think he will have a great season this year.

6. Anthony Davis

A two way all-star, AD, is coming off a season where he played and started 76 games after being heavily criticized for missing many games in previous seasons. I also liked his play for Team USA in the Olympics and feel very confident about his performance in the upcoming season.

5. Giannis Antetokounmpo

Coming off a season where he averaged 30 points per game while shooting 61% from the field, Giannis, looks to lead the Bucks on another Championship run after missing the playoffs last year and only playing in 3 playoff games in the previous year.

4. Kevin Durant

A walking 30 point game, KD, was crucial in Team USA basketball’s Olympic Gold Medal run this past summer. Look for Durant and the Suns to make a deep playoff run this year.

3. Steph Curry

Hands down the best shooter to ever lace em up, Chef Curry, has single-handedly changed the game of basketball. He is coming off an unreal Gold Medal game in the Olympics where he lit it up for Team USA helping us win Gold.

2. LeBron James

Going into his 22nd season in the NBA, I have never seen a player play at such a high level for so long consistently as LeBron James. The Olympic Tournament MVP, LeBron, is still chasing Greatness and extending records while also playing on the same team as his son. Can’t make up a better story than his.

1. Nikola Jokic

Known around the basketball world by his nickname Joker, there may not be another big man in NBA history with a more all around game than him. He has been nothing short of dominant recently winning 3/4 MVPs since 2021.

(Honorable Mention: Jalen Brunson, Victor Wembanyama, Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, and Devin Booker)

This concludes my Top 10 NBA Players list going into the 2024-25 season. Feel free to share and comment your opinions of who you think was snubbed or if you agree with the rankings.
