Created NBA Shooting Guard (99 Overall)

I am going to put together a Created Basketball Player at the Shooting Guard position using attributes from every guard in the History of the League. Take into account I will be creating a Shooting Guard, who can of course do it all, so certain players with great attributes may not be chose if their ability may not have translated to a player at a different size.

3 Point Shot:

Stephen Curry

I chose Steph Curry’s 3 point shot for my 2 guard. It definitely won’t hurt to have his 3 Point Shot as an attribute as he is already the all-time best shooter in NBA history regardless of position or era.

Ball Handling:

Kyrie Irving

Following the all-time best shooter in NBA history we have the best ball handler in league history Kyrie Irving. Very skilled in many areas, he is a straight up wizard with the basketball.

Dunk Package/Vertical:

Michael Jordan

When it comes to style, flair, and poster ability the only other option here was Vince Carter, but ultimately “His Airness” won the decision. Michael Jordan’s leaping ability has it’s own logo and is pretty much engraved in every basketball player’s mind and something we all aim to emulate.

Layup Package:

Kyrie Irving

I chose Kyrie’s layup package due to his dexterity around the rim, creativity with angles, and ability to finish with either hand and over the best of shot blockers. You will find yourself scratching your head saying “how did that not get blocked” after one of his finishes amongst the trees.

Floater:

Trae Young

A very underrated player with a lethal attribute, I chose Trae Young’s floater because it’s one of the most consistent mid range shots in the game today.

Defense:

Michael Jordan

Jordan won the Defensive Player of the Year Award as a Guard. Something that no one has done before. Also earning his spot on many all-defensive teams. His competition for this spot was Kobe and Kawhi, but due to the DPOY Award it was hard to not choose him.

IQ/Mentality:

Kobe Bryant

Not only the most skilled Shooting Guard ever, Kobe Bryant, also had the mentality that would seek out those more talented than him just to show the world that he was superior. Mamba Mentality has lasted long after his passing and will continue to live on and inspire those for generations to come.

Rebounding:

Dennis Rodman

As a 6’7” forward, Dennis Rodman, averaged 18.7 rebounds in a season with other players who were taller than him, that’s unheard of.

Mid Range:

Michael Jordan

The MJ fadeaway is an iconic shot that has not been duplicated and probably never will. Jordan was automatic from the midrange.

Quickness:

Allen Iverson

You just could not stay in front of him. My favorite player who pretty much was my introduction to the sport of basketball, Allen Iverson. A straight up blur with the basketball, good luck stopping him from getting to where he wanted to go.

A lot of the attributes where I chose to put MJ or Kobe could definitely be interchangeable. I mean let’s face it, nobody played the 2 better than them and I think they also had the ideal size for the position as well. I decided to leave a few skills off on purpose like passing because a 99 Overall Shooting Guard won’t be doing much of that.
